Welcome to the Keller Basketball Association!
The KBA... just a letter away from the NBA! We want to give your kids the "NBA experience" here in Keller, Texas. The KBA is a unique basketball league for boys & girls in 5th and 6th grades in Keller ISD. Each Keller intermediate school will have their very own boys team & girls team to represent their school & compete against the other schools in KISD.
We are starting our "Pilot Season" on the week of April 21, 2014. So if you are interested, please register your information now and CLICK HERE. We want ideally 8-12 players per school team so if rosters are full, late sign-ups may have to wait for next season or play on another team. If you would like to help develop your school's team (or try out for one of our KBA Select teams), please call/text 713-480-7069 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
ABOUT THE KBA
We want to support Keller ISD's athletic department & their coaches to make sure all the players are well prepared for middle school basketball and eventually high school. All the players will get to start playing together to build chemistry as they advance their way up to high school. Although we are not a Keller ISD program, we do use the input of KISD's athletic department & their coaches to make sure all the players are well prepared for 7th grade school basketball and beyond. --- To read "tips" on what your kids need to prepare from KISD coaches and professional trainers CLICK HERE.
THE UPCOMING SEASON
The first game of the Spring season will begin April 25th and conclude with playoffs by May 30th. Each team will play 5 regular season games plus playoffs for a potential total of up to 7 games. There must be at least 5 players on each team by tip-off or the game results in a forfeit. Players will also receive professional Skills training early in the season, with options for more if needed. We want the kids to work hard and be challenged, while also having a fun and positive experience that will last a lifetime.
To join, sign up and pay on our "Register" page. Gather your team (ideally 8-12 players from your Keller ISD intermediate school) of 5th and 6th graders mixed. If you are forming a group from your child's school, make sure everybody signs up as early as possible to ensure they will all be on the same team. If there are too many players signed up at a certain school, late sign-ups may have to wait for next season or play for another team. If there are open roster spots on a team, other players can be asked to sign on as "free agents."
We want our coaches to push the kids to give their all, but also make it a very positive experience for all the players. Each team can be coached by an experienced coach, teacher, or parent. Experienced coaches can be compensated. For parents, the fee for the head coach's child will be waived. Before the season begins, we will have a Skills Training session for all the players, plus options for extra Skills Training with professional trainers & coaches for the players who are serious about improving even more. For additional skills training, contact Richard at 817-602-2243.
On defense, we want the kids to learn solid "man-to-man" defense. DEFENSE first, coaches! Our focus is NOT on wins and losses, but mostly on developing players on the fundamentals of basketball, as it coincides with the KISD athletic department. The offensive schemes will be left open to the coaches, with guidance from us if needed. Just like in middle school basketball playing time is not guaranteed, however we encourage all coaches to try to give every player as much playing time as they can.
Each player will receive a team shirt with their school team's name, mascot and a jersey number at no additional cost. Shirts must be tucked in during games. All shorts MUST be of the same color (as chosen by the coach or team). We recommend that the shorts be the same color as the tops if possible. They also can be all black or one of the alternate school colors. To pre-order extra team shirts for family members or friends CLICK HERE.
If the team would like to order specific team shorts to match, contact our supplier directly at 817-595-4415 or email@example.com (customized team bags, team shirts, shooting shirts & other accessories also available)
